In a
joint publication put out by Trends in Housing (Delta Associates and
MRIS) Shirlington was featured in the 3rd quarter report.
"In the late
1970’s the area now known as Shirlington was a run-down commercial
area adjacent to I-395. The neighborhood was modified in the 1980’s
to include a traditional main street with office buildings and a
movie theatre. Shirlington’s “village” concept really took off
in the early part of this decade with significant investment in
additional mixed-use development including a stateof- the-art
library, theatre and public plaza.
Even more amenities
followed and the neighborhood is now home to several restaurants,
shops and a Harris Teeter grocery store. Shirlington’s mixed-use
design attracts young professionals, and the area is denser than
Arlington County on average.
Although Shirlington
is not within close proximity to a Metro station, the neighborhood
has been successful at drawing demand with its superior design and
is outperforming the region as a whole." |

Shirlington
Village Condominium
Completed in 2006 this is the only condo located in the heart of
the Village. The 11 story building has 159 units or varying
styles. The first 3 floors have open LOFT style condos with
exposed duct work and ceilings up to 14’. The upper floors are
more conventional floor plans with 9’ or 10’ ceilings.
Amenities:
Concierge service from 8-8 daily, an outdoor pool, an exercise
room, a community room with big screen TV, and a library with
